We are still below average rainfall totals for the year so I don't see this season being any less dry than previous years :-) From this point on, it is only going to get drier here - summer is our dry season with little to no measurable rainfall as the norm.

if the second has fragrant white flowers... i might tend toward guacamole.. or something in that family ...

that spring coloration should darken as the season progresses ...

as to the blue.. any idea as to how old the cultivar is???? ... is it a newer name.. or could it be an old standard.. or even very old????

Ken, they are old in the sense they both came from my old house and were dug from the original plant when we moved. They are between 15-20 years old but as you pointed out on a different thread once I pulled them from original plant they became babies.

I bought them from a “home” nursery that has long since disappeared that specialized in shade plants.

All I remember is there were a ton of different kinds and I was a gardening noob and knew NOTHING about plants. I just needed something to do while the kids played outside....and the seed was planted :)

Gg48, I definitely feel I’ve had more moisture this spring than the past four. Every year we’ve been at this house I’ve been behind the 8 ball with watering. It might not look like it on paper but I’ve had more stored rainwater than previous years and my plants are off to a much healthier start to the dry season. So no matter what happens in the coming months I’m thankful for this little boon.

We’ve had a year of adequate water and spring has been glorious here. I hope this is normal and the last five dry years are the anomaly. but the dry season is starting here, too, and I’ll be watering all summer.

I brought two that we got free from the water district at the old house. My husband was “Dammit, Tina (there were a lot of those during the move. Especially when he found some of the pots had rocks in the bottom) but I was adamant.

I can let the grass die or even let the plants not look amazing but I can‘t let them die. For me they help ensure stuff at least stays alive

We had a very wet period in early April, but minimal rain in May, leaving us about 2.5 inches below normal for the period.
