Shade shrub with pink flowers

I need suggestions for a short shrub, one that stays under 3-4 feet tall, that has pink flowers and wants shade only. Ideally it should be able to withstand our north FL occasional harsh winters and not get root-killed.

If there is no such shrub with pink flowers can you all think of a perennial that fits the bill even if it gets root-killed in winter?

there's probably compact hybrid azaleas that fit the bill and those would be evergreen and certainly hardy

how shady are we talkin? i find pentas (older varieties are taller and superior) and rose pentas can handle a fair bit of shade but both are marginally hardy here.

there is also salvia oxyphora which would be an interesting choice and it has decently dense growth/lush leaves. it is definitely a dappled to light shade plant in hot areas like FL

How about Hydrangeas? Camillias like the shade but I don't know if there are any dwarf varieties. And yes, azaleas - I know there are dwarf varieties of those. Also if none of those work, how about caladiums with pink leaves?? They die back in Winter but they come back.

Thanks guys. Great suggestions. I love camelias but they are such slow growers.

I didnt even know there are such plants as dwarf azaleas. I googled it just now and there are several including pink ones. I think I'll be getting one.

no problem. i have seen the Encore series in person in this area (specifically some of the reddish ones) and they seem compact and floriferous. i think autumn carnival or autumn sundance would be good options for you as they are pink dwarf reblooming plants. i'm not a big fan of exotic azaleas myself but the sundance one tempts me.

The ones above are also known as Earth Kind roses... and Easy to Care For

The ones bellow will also do well in the shade. Some of theses roses have scent, some don't.... but all should do well in Florida. Also don't let the size scare you. They can ALL be kept at that 3 to 4 ft you wanted. I live in Palm Beach and I growd Caldwel Pink, Sweetheart, Cometesse, and I had the Faun until the gardener ran over it with a lawn mower..... I have friends who grow some of the other ones... They should all do well.
