Have you considered settling for a smaller size of your desired hostas, thereby saving a lot of money? Then, just be patient and grow them up to "Giantland" size.

giantland sized is new to me ... lol ... when did he start that???

i went for number of names.. rather than size of plants ... easier to hide them once you get them ... though not tiny ones ...

even if you hid the cost ... you would still have to explain the giant size ones.. that just seemed to spring up from nowhere ... lol ...

unless she is just oblivious to the plants themselves ...

I guess I'm lucky in a way. Smaller plants are easier for me. I can't plant those giant ones. I just can't dig a hole large enough. If you can, more power to ya! I drool over those giantland size ones all the time.

If you can give her a check for the same amount to spend any way she wants. (Except maybe the divorve attorney) :)

Gotta say- Friday I received my order from LOTG. The only “Giantland size” one I ordered was Elegans, and it is huge and beautiful- I think it was 5 divisions. But all the others were really large and beautiful too. These are the best looking bareroot plants I’ve ever received, and they were packaged so nicely! And I got a free gift plant that’s really pretty (unfortunately there’s no name associated with it-just “free gift”).

I got a regular size Tickle Me Pink and I think there were 3 or 4 divisions of that. They’re all just gorgeous and perky- I put them in water for a few hours, then potted.... now they’re all standing proud and happy.

So maybe you don’t need the extra large of all those, especially those that are more vigorous growers.

I wanted the large Elegans because I just love that one and gotta have it... now... lolololol.

I have placed orders for Giantland size hosta - well - because I'm an old bird and I have been very pleased with their growth in a short amount of time. Windymess, my elegants is huge this year. Leave a lot of room for that one.

Nothing wrong with expensive tastes as long as it's not causing you any pain. I guess that's why you hope your wife won't notice, lol.

It seems like Goodness Gracious will be getting harder to find so that might be worth it. My Thunderbolt faded away to nothing, so I'm glad I didn't pay that much for it. I have Blue Ivory and it's so pretty, but such a slow grower that I can't even imagine what a Giantland size would look like. Might be awesome!

If you get them, I hope you'll show us what comes with that price tag. The older I get the more tempting it is to go for instant gratification rather than waiting for who knows how long.
