Need help with kitchen countertops

Hi,

I would love some feedback on kitchen counter tops and paint color. I have a big island that will be mercury black., I have attached a photo. My dilemma is there is a small island and the surround of the kitchen countertops and paint color. The mercury island counters will be painted either smoke grey or black. I do not want white countertops or white cabinets. Any ideas?
