June hostas turning brown

Just planted these less than 2 weeks ago, all 4 of them are suffering the same symptoms. They are in a pretty shady location. Watered them in well, and have watered them a couple more times and they have received a little bit of rain. Weather has been fair.

The hose water that I use on the garden is softened with potassium pellets, but that hasn't seemed to bother the hostas I planted last year.

I also have some newly planted lady ferns that have been browning up a bit as well. New coral bells and astilbe look fine.

Just those two leaves? Can you take a pic from farther back? Is the brown all on the same side of each plant? Just older leaves? It might just be that the plants are in a place very different from where they emerged (greenhouse) and they are a little sun/wind burned. Or did an animal pee on them?????

It possibly the two leaves were damaged when transplanted and the plant in general will be fine

It's not just those two leaves. Here are pics of two different hostas.

They may be too wet. If you are in SE Michigan we are way above rainfall total for the year. When watering, try to water ground area only with a soaker hose when the soil dries out some. You can also look at MSU Extension website, or area nurseries for diagnosis.

Newly planted go through a “transplant shock”. Totally normal, just remove the ugly leaves And others if necessary to shape it nicely. You will be pleased with the new look.
