I‘m adding more photos not sure why only this one posted. I agree, the sectional is way too dark I was to lighten our space especially since the windows don’t offer much sunlight.

I love jck910's suggestions! The turquoise and/or orange look great with your walls and kitchen. And you really need some lamps! Don't depend on an overhead fixture for light.

Thats a great idea, I should also add that we have a toddler. How about grey or taupe couches and brown leather accent chairs?

Are you deliberately going for a monochromatic look? If so, go with the grey/taupe but make sure it is the right tone to blend with the dining chairs and kitchen tones. I personally would go with the color, it won't get any more dirty than grey. Perhaps you could find a piece of art that appeals to you to go over the fireplace. Use this as a color scheme.

I wasn’t going for monochromatic look but now that you mention it I guess I tend to gravitate towards these colors because my entire house has the same color scheme with the exception of my baths.

With your kitchen and dining room furniture, I would stick with warm neutrals - creams or taupes, or a color that you like. If you like leather, you could use two warm colored leather chairs with a light sofa. Or try introducing color like blue, which would look nice with creams/taupe and your dark floors. If you are you open to painting the wall color, you have lots more options.

I found this in a sofa and love seat. I think they would go well with our formal table. Thoughts?

That is very formal, traditional, and oversized. I would look for something more streamlined and transitional, and let your dining table provide the formal look for the space. The color works though. Measure your room and decide on a furniture layout before you go shopping so you know what size sofas and chairs will work in your room.

The color of the sofa that you found is great! You’re on the right track for color! Style, I agree with cal, go with a simple classic sofa and chairs. Not modern at all, but transitional, timeless. I try to find some examples for you..one picture is a coffee occasional table I thought added some lift!
