I hope everyone is doing well! I have a small tree that I grafted last fall, with a scar from a previously failed graft. I have been watching the scar, hoping it would heal up, but it hasn’t changed, other than hardening. Yesterday, I noticed gummy sap accumulating at the top of the scar. I will be grafting this species to another rootstock (without scars lol) once it gets big enough. Is there anything I should do to protect the wound and encourage healing? I’ve thought about re-wrapping the area. Thanks for your time!
