Remove the grass from around the plant. Stop fertilising. Water well. Cross your fingers. Btw how did it get 'burnt'? Had it been indoors and you didn't harden it off?

never fert a transplant ... its stressed ...

fert is not a response to a stress ... and sunburned leaves.. indicates a stressed plant ...

it may have been a cold event on the transplant .. a month ago in MI ... especially if bigbox shipped it in from a warmer clime .... ergo.. the hardening off flora mentions .. to both temps.. and sunshine levels ... just put a new purchase in bright shade for a week or so.. and protect it from frost or freeze.. in MI.. in april ...

its most likely growing roots.. and if you water it properly [let it near dry between deep waterings... subject to rain]... it should survive ... but until it puts out new leaves.. its not going to look any better.. those leaves will not recover .. and look pretty.. but they have very minor damage.. and are still doing their job.. converting sun into plant food to grow roots ... to grow the future ...

might be a year or 3... before you get much of a grape crop.. by which time.. you will probably barely be able to beat it back with a stick ... time for you to learn how to properly prune them.. for the crop you dream of ... grape takes a bit of work ... to do it right ..

It got burnt with too much sun and a bit too much cold, I think - we have not had a frost event but it has gotten down into the high 30's over here (just over the freezing threshold). It was initially hardened off, but life interfered and it spent about ten days sitting on my kitchen counter in the warmth which I think threw it out of sync. Ken, I thought a light fert could not hurt much but I will remember better. Thanks to both of you!
