Not massively familiar with the West Coast offerings as they are bit different than the East Coast stuff, but Milgard, Simonton, Anlin, and Amerimax all seem to make a fine product.

I know nothing about Simonton, but we have Milgard aluminum windows in our current 45 year old house and they are all in great shape. At our old house, we got Milgard fiberglass and really liked them. Had one issue with the sliding door (odd water leakage that stained the wood - cause of the leakage was never determined) and they came out and replaced it - nearly 10 years later -at no cost to us. I would highly recommend them based on service alone.

Daylight Max Windows made in Vacaville, CA by Simonton Windows who have been in business since 1946 have a unique feature know one else has. More viewable glass area than the Milgard Trinsic Windows. I have used both brands, so it just depends if you want more vinyl frame or more glass, similar to having a bigger flat screen tv in your living room.
