Red Thread Heavy Infestation

I fertilized twice with Lawn Restore but having an outbreak of red thread. Is it worth treating or will it go away on it's own once the rain and humidity stops?

We'd need photos, but usually red thread doesn't kill the lawn and treating it past feeding the lawn isn't worth the time and effort. It'll fix itself when conditions improve and either the rain stops or temperatures warm or cool outside its viable range (warm, in this case!)

If it's really, really bad and is doing damage, which is unlikely, you can use a fungicide containing benomyl or carbendazim (per Wikipedia, anyway). I've never bothered to treat the small amounts I sometimes get during wet spring and fall weather, so I can't say how well or even if that would work.

Please note that both of those fungicides have some really severe side effects on other populations (worms and lab animals when tested, respectively) so you'd want to think long and hard about use before pulling the trigger. Personally, I'd pass and wait for the weather cycle to end before doing anything.

Morph you sure know your stuff, we had it in Our back yard which I don't fuss much about as I have a 100lb Labrador Lol so I did however put disease Ex down and some MILO and it went away, wasn't that bad, but it is SO bad in all the lawns around here this late spring I honestly never saw soooo much of it as I did this yr

As temperatures rise, it's going away (it doesn't like temps in the 80's and above), but with the wet this spring it was just awful.

If this fall is a repeat, we can expect another outbreak!

My front lawn didn't get it Thank god Lol just he corner of my back yard which wasn't that bad , does it feel like Fall tonight Morph? it's so chilly out I had to shut my windows, tomorrow's high 64 ...total October weather which I don't mind at all when the sun is out all day ;)

I'm on the other side of the front, so it's currently 80, humid, and there's a huge thunderhead building to the west. :-) Tomorrow is supposed to be 70 and sunny, so that should do better...

I'm gonna go paint a watercolor and wait for it to storm. Hopefully there's enough daylight left afterward for me to spray the gardens against rabbits (I really should publish my recipe, it's cheap, works, and doesn't hurt anything--it's edible--but needs to be reapplied after significant rainfall).

Morph, please do...start a new topic on the rabbits. I have a recipe for fire ants that has worked on every mound this year. It kills them while you watch, and they don't come back. I want to start that topic, too.
