Podocarpus Gracilior not leafy and lush. Is it a quality problem?

I purchased a few Podocarpus Gracilior from Lowe's and the leaves are sparse. Now looking at photos online, it seems that even at the same height, some nurseries do have them very dense and leafy. Is it possible to fertilize to make it lush, or is the quality from Lowe's just is? If the latter, I might want to return them and buy from a better nursery. I live in Zone 10.

Podocarpus from Lowe's. They're still in plastic containers and I simply placed them in the tub for now.

Image I found online where the Podocarpus are lush at the same height.
