i Don’t think there is much enhanced functionality for a bathroom sink. Typically one has one for detergent at a kitchen sink because the alternative is keeping an ugly bottle on the counter because one generally wants immediate access to detergent.

A bathroom will generally have different face soaps and lotions anyway so there isn’t an urgent need to decant hand soap. Just seems like an unnecessary step.

Lots of people hate them in the kitchen, because they are a hassle to refill (from underneath) and can make a mess. I skipped them in all places -- use a hand soap dispenser and keep the liquid detergent under the sink.

FWIW, if you swap out the little hard to fill bottle for a Never MT soap dispenser, refill is a breeze and infrequent since you are accessing the largest size of detergent you want.

Soapy water trapped beneath a soap bottle can wreak havoc on granite and especially on engineered stone. Don't make me post the pictures, please.

My mother skipped it when she had her counter replaced, having found it to be a nuisance to keep clean and not really worth the bother.

We had one in the kitchen once years ago. Awful. Worked at first. Was a pain to refill though. And then one time someone put the wrong kind of hand soap in and it no longer pumped properly after that. So then it became useless.

We did not do any dispensers, kitchen or baths, no regrets. Mostly an aesthetic choice and influenced by a pain to fill one in a prior house. I had also heard (and hopefully one of the fabricators here will confirm or deny) that more holes drilled = more likelihood of damage to the slab.

These are all just anecdotes; that's all you're going to get, and as the famous saying goes: Anecdotes are not data.

This is a pointless exercise that will produce nothing more than internet noise, just like the last 10 times somebody asked the same thing in this forum. Do a search. Turn off the computer, and make a decision. There is no right nor wrong answer, only what suits you. Buy it or don't; nobody here can make up your mind nor give you any information that you couldn't have gotten if you'd taken the time to do a search.

I spent years working in hospitals and we were never allowed to top off or refill soap containers because of contamination risk. For that reason, I never wanted an in-counter soap container.....

I agree with no soap dispenser. I do not like them for all the reasons above. There are some very attractive on-the-counter dispensers that are much easier to refill than the built-in ones. Try Bed Bath & Beyond.

I have one in my kitchen and if I had to do over, I would not get one. It is just something else to clean around and one time the container came off and made a huge mess under my sink.

This came up not long ago on the kitchen forum and I'm just surprised at the number of newbies who never heard of this or the oldies with poor memory!

Get a NeverMT and it solves all the problems of trying to refill the in-counter dispenser from the top or bottom. Put your Costco size bottle under the sink, attach NeverMT and you probably won't have to mess with it for 6 months. Easy!

Never MT!! Only changed the huge jug once in the last 6 years.

My Koehler soap dispenser in the kitchen gets filled from the top. I have learned to pour carefully But if any soap falls onto the countertop it gets wiped immediately. The dispenser is pretty long and with a farmhouse sink it would be impossible to access from below. Many of them are top-refill styles.
I like pretty soaps in powder rooms so I would t out a dispenser in a bathroom in any case.

Has anyone using that Never MT setup had a spill under the sink? We have a pull-out drawer under the sink and I had a Costco bottle of Palmolive dish soap with a leak—

I think they might have cut it when they opened the box and it oozed out slowly so I didn’t notice when I brought it home. I made a bad mess under my sink because I didn’t know for a while. I don’t want anything like that to happen again...

A leaking bottle of detergent has absolutely nothing to do with the soap dispenser. Any bottle can leak.

Wow, we’ve had a soap dispenser in our kitchen (hand soap) for 18 years...just pull the pump from the top and fill. If your pump quits buy a new one at HD...it’s not rocket science. Why would you need to unscrew it from under the counter to fill? I guess I’m missing something...

I just realized I was doing the same thing and my maintenance guy said I could fill it from the top - duh! Much easier. HOWEVER, I have clear liquid dish washing soap that I filled it with and it is turning blue and now blackish when I pump it through the stainless pump. Why is this happening. It never happened with my Ivory soap. I guess I’ll have to go back to a better soap? Weird.

I had a soap dispenser put in with my new kitchen countertop, it came with my Koehler faucet. I never used it. Maybe now I will use it❣️
