all of the furniture is dark so I was thinking a mirror in a different finish. also the cedar chest at the end of the bed needs to be refinished. I have thought about chalk painting all of it,or just painting the bottom and restraining the top. ideas for that are welcome also.

I think what would look best on that wall is a different colour for starters. Have you considered painting?

No. If that mirror falls on you or you fall into it, the broken shards of glass can kill you. I don’t know who ever thought these were a good idea. They are dangerous! Whew! Now that I’ve gotten that out, I can answer your original question. You would be stealing valuable floor space in your soon to be lovely bedroom. Wait to make any more decorating decisions until the painting is finished. Assess your needs for more storage, maybe a little four drawer chest for winter sweaters or summer t shirts. I personally like some empty space on my walls in my bedroom so it is more serene. Maybe you will be at an outdoor art festival and find a picture you love or maybe you will decide to frame (10x16 or larger) photos you have taken at a National Park or a local lake.

drdeb1234, yes as i pointed out the spackle we are going to paint the bedroom. it is currently spiced vinegar and I am thinking I will go lighter but haven't decided on a color yet.

remodeling1840 and Patricia colwell consulting. I will definitely look for some artwork. I had thought about the possible danger of mirror but planned to anchor it to the wall if I got one. I'm a little afraid of wallpaper. I tend to get tired of things and like to change pretty often and removing wallpaper is a job.

With the small space you have between would be mirror and bed, would you have room to stand in front of it to see yourself? I would chose a mirror for the back of the door or some place that you have more room.

erinsean that is a good point. i'm not sure if i would be able to see myself or not. I actually have one on the door of my utility room, so it's not like i need one. I just thought a pretty one might look good. I think now I will look for some art work for that wall.

I don't think you need a leaning mirror on that wall at all, your room looks far too small. I'd paint, and then reassess after you put your room back together. You may not even need art there ... you've already got a wall with the TV, a wall with the dresser/mirror, and your headboard wall. It's nice to have some visual "breathing space" in a room.

Those leaning mirrors look great when there's a lot of space to move around. I don't think you have that space. Art would be my suggestion as well but there's no rush. Chalk paint for your chest is a great idea. Have you worked with it before? I was so impressed by how easy it is. If you're keeping your bedding, perhaps that can inspire your new wall colour?
