How big is your TV? If those aren't build-ins flanking the FP, I would mount TV on the left wall by the FP. If it is on an articulated arm you can adjust it as needed. What furniture do you plan for this room? Couches against walls aren't so important as they used to be. A 3-seat sofa and 2 armchairs should work very well here. Their arrangement isn't bad but for that one sofa overlapping the entry door landing area. You could face the FP with sofa and put 2 chairs where that one is, but not crowding the door. The black & white wall is a good place for a larger piece of casegoods like a bookcase, secretary, armoire, etc.

Thank you! Yes that is an interesting thought. So have the TV on an extendable arm on the wall that can come out? It’s about a 48in tv. We are thinking of getting this sectional for the living room and we can manipulate it as we wish around the room or add accent decor chairs too. I do agree with placing chairs by the doorway instead, however I also felt it created a sort of walkway if I were to add a console behind the couch. To the immediate right side of the door when walking in I feel could hold a very practical side table or even a tallllll bookshelf to create a partition, yet I’m not sure. Oh yes and definitely removing the black stripes to plain white, I’m not that fond of it

I don't like to hang the TV over the FP but in this case, here is a layout to accommodate that location.

Maybe put a narrow bench behind couch next to entry door..

Doubling as entryway storage or seating.. as required

Thank you! Okay so another vote for TV right of FP. I am just unsure how it would look, photos I see online of a FP next to TV look odd - like a black box next to another black box, however maybe it’s because they are usually in corners without much light?

Would you place the console diagonally or flush on the wall?

yes my thoughts exactly on a partition, its iffy since it’ll cut that airy feel to the style.

Have you considered a sectional and a couple of chairs.

The articulated arm will allow you to adjust it up down or sideways. If you mount it by the door it will pick up glare from the sliders, and when pulled out to adjust will provide a blockade for people coming through the door - their first intro to your room will be the back side of the TV! If hung left of the FP it shouldn't pick up glare from the dining windows, and when not in use it can tuck nice and flat into that area if the spot is large enough.

@decoenthusuate sorry! I should have clarified, that is what I meant, by the sliders, not by the front door! that is a really nice idea, that I can just tuck it away when not in use.

@judygdesigns yes, the sectional I added a photo ff above that is modular and can be manipulated all sorts of ways is the plan and then maybe a accent chair if space allows? I am going to have to do measurements to see.

@chuppi, with the modular sectional that is quite low to the ground, im debating on if it should be the narrow or wide and its height. I do like the idea of a bench, I would just have to make it flush so that it doesn't become an obstacle when coming in. I love that minimalistic bench!

@beverlyflad thank you for the layout there! I like the plant behind the chair too, really nice touch. I will have to see if we prefer the TV above the fireplace, I too don't like it, its very strange for me but the hubby does >.<
