Willow Bend Iris Farm

If you're ever on the Western slope of Colorado, I recommend making a brief stop at the Willow Bend Iris farm in Grand Junction. Next year, I will try to go earlier in May. I was there this weekend and most of the iris were done or nearing done. The place is very small but very cute. The owner is very nice and enthusiastic which I like. She sells iris and herbaceous peonies. There is also a website where you can see pictures and order online. But more fun to go peruse the rows of iris and quickly become overwhelmed with wanting them all! I ordered two that will be ready for pickup in August.

I just had a nice chat with the gentleman at Willow Bend regarding rebloomers.

I looked up two I liked, Immortality

both said to be rebloomers on the web site. He said Immortality probably would here in Denver but Coral Satin probably wouldn't.

For those interested in darker colors he said these rebloom for them on the farm.

Bolder Boulder - purple and white - says it reblooms consistently for them.

For some reason, this year, I am drawn to orange/coral ones. Last year, I wanted pink ones. I really wanted one called Oh James, but they were sold out for this year. My uncle bought Gypsy Lord and Gitano. It was really hard to choose!

Beautiful! All 4 the two of you got. Also loved looking at their web site. I am still amazed how many varieties there are!

We did discuss rebloomers with the woman at Willow Bend also. But she said that there is a lot that has to go "right" for any of the ones that are even classified as rebloomers. Gardenchloe and I are meeting with an iris expert on Saturday. I can ask her for some recommendations as well. I'll add back to this thread after.

I have Immortality. It's blooming right now. Can't remember if it reblooms or not. But ugh, I need to clean up the bed it grows in so it's probably not at it's happiest right now.

I'm halfway across the country from you though, lol.

You are right, mine was also turned off and I never did that. I think houzz must have done a software update and wiped out the old settings. I just sent you a msg. Mine should be turned on now also.

For others reading this they also added a bunch of new (to me) parameters for getting messages, comments, likes etc. You may want to review them to be sure they are set how you want them to be. I was no longer getting all the comments on the threads I was following as they has some limited to 5 per hour etc.

I just checked and they have definitely "changed something," but none of my settings were "undone" or "changed." But thanks for the heads up in case others suddenly find something has changed--especially with their messaging settings.

I wish they'd make our olde GW "bios" visible again! Mine is still in there, just like I wrote it in 2005, but as near as I can tell there's no way anybody but me can see it!
