Landscape fabric, cardboard, mulch and oxygen permeability

I know landscape fabric has many problems which include preventing mulch layered on top from feeding into soil, not preventing weeds long term because eventually they grow through or from the top and bottom, pooling water from heavy rains, etc
.However, one really common complaint o hear often is that it prevents oxygen permeability and gas exchange and i want to know how true this is and to what degree?
I know landscape plastic would do this but why would landscape fabric do this when its porous? There is a market for air pruning pots or containers and these often use landscape fabric type material and have the selling point of being permeable to the air which is what allows the air pruning to occur in the first place so it is strange to me when i hear about how suffocating landscape fabric is.Is it the DEGREE to how much landscape fabric restricts oxygen permeability and that ANY compromise of oxygen is bad?
If that is the case, then why do i not hear about concerns with using cardboard which seems like it would also suffocate soil? I understand cardboard also feeds soil as it breaks down unlike landacape fabric but if you disregard that, would cardboard, when fully intact and not rotted down, be any better than fabric in preventing oxygen?
So my questions are,
1. Is more oxygen permeability always better?
2. Is landscape fabric anymore restrictive on gas and oxygen permeability than cardboard? When cardboard js not broken down, it is quite thick and dense
