2-3 weeks ago I purchased 2 bergamot plants from a local nursery. Neither of them had flowers on them, the bigger one was about a foot and a half tall. When I transplanted them to my garden, I realized after the fact that I forgot to shake up the root ball but I decided not to worry about it. The taller one proceeded to flower lots of pink flowers after about a week or less.

Fast forward to now, and the tall one is looking pretty bad. The flowers and leaves are shriveling up and falling off and it generally looks like it's withering and dying. Is this just temporary transplant stress? Or should I have shaken up the root ball? Should I dig it up and shake up the roots and replant it?

I was on vacation this past week and wasn't able to water it and it''s situated so it doesn't get much rain water because it's right up against the house and the roof partly covers it. It might just be lack of watering and I just need to start watering again? The shorter one looks fine and is starting to get flowers on it.
