HI -- Your plans sound fine , but ...... you need a front porch !! The door looks like it is hanging in mid air . Have you planned for a front porch ? I think a nice sized deck base the width of that section ,set a little higher than the old brick steps .... so it goes over top , and then nice wide stairs with a railing and also around the deck . You could also extend the roof line or have an awning over for sun and weather protection.

Perfect idea, lefty47, if homeowner does extend roofline, I'd suggest lighter or brighter front door color than I showed above. If the front door is in shadow, it tends to make a dark color just look like a black hole in house. Any of the colors I showed above, have some lovely lighter tones too. :)

I would go with a color that pops, bold and classic such as the color above that Liza Jane Interiors Recommends.

Yep, definitely the burgundy. and maybe a little gabled porch and some new stairs?

Some great suggestions! Bold colors are definitely in right now and perfect for front doors, which are supposed to grab attention.

I would love to know the name and brand of the burgundy shade that Liza Jane has recommended above, I want something similar for my new door. Any one got any ideas?
