The pump is the problem. It runs at the beginning of all cycles except Perm Press for the Eco Active recirculation/pretreat function. The diverter is not involved in the noise, it only controls which way the pumped water flows ... to the recirculation hose or to the drain hose.

As venmar references above, best to not use the machine at all until the pump is replaced. There's only the one pump in the machine, so it also runs for all drain periods. A GWL11 does not have the protective fuse unless the pump has previously been replaced and the servicer who did that job installed the fuse kit at that time.

The original Selni-brand pump went NLA last year when the vendor/factory that supplied it shut down. It's possible F&P kept some warehoused but no other sources have the original style, other than some used and a few high-priced NIB offerings on eBay or Amazon.

There is a seller on eBay that is carrying a revised design that is a direct substitute. That's what I'd get.

Also just to say ... WD40 is not a suitable lubricant for this sort of situation. It's basically a type of oil (possibly mineral oil) dissolved in a solvent to turn it into a sprayable aerosol. The main purpose is to displace moisture ... that's what the "WD" part of the name means ... Water Displacement (formula 40). The solvent evaporates and leaves a very thin coating of the oil ... but it's not enough to properly lubricate rotating parts such as motor bearings or a rotating motor shaft. It will effectively wash out any good oil. So for example, spraying it on a seized motor bearing and working the shaft to loosen it is OK but then the bearing/shaft must be relubricated with a proper type of oil.

That won't help in the long-run on this pump motor if the water seal on the shaft is leaking.

New part ordered from F&P. I wounder why the new pump includes an inline fuse?

A pump gone to off-spec resistance or current draw will zap the motor controller board. The fuse on the pump circuit protects the board, it will blow at high current draw instead of destroying the board. Some later production machines may have the fuse factory-installed but older machines do not. This style of pump fits numerous models back 20+ years. Replacement pumps include the fuse kit to be added on models that don't have it. The fuse is spliced-in to one of the pump wires at the controller board in the console. Instructions should be included, different wire depending on which model machine.

All impeller-style HE (low-water) "AquaSmart" models use a different type of pump, and agitator models were revised to it a few years ago. The new-style "smart pump" is both electrically and physically different, cannot be fitted to older machines.

You bought/ordered the pump directly from F&P? I'm curious if it's an original-style pump from stock they held on-hand, or the newer design as per the offering via the link I provided above. Please advise, or post a picture of the new pump when it arrives. Thanks!

The pump pictured on F&P's shopping site for 479595 is the original-style pump. It has a black cooling fan, black rotor magnet, black windings cover, black or white impeller, and the label on it is branded "Selni." As stated above, these were discontinued last year (2018) when the factory (Selni) that produced them shut down. If this is what you receive then F&P has a stock of them on-hand remaining after production ceased, which is what I'm curious about.

The new-style version has a gray cooling fan and impeller of a slightly different design, gray rotor magnet, white windings cover, and is not sourced from Selni.

Maybe they are handling the new version but didn't update the photo.

Both are tagged as the same part number 479595, and both include the fuse kit. 420325P and 479595 are the same pump but 479595 should always include the fuse kit while 420325P may or may not include it.

New pump/inline fuse just installed; it is the new gray one. Probably my imagination, but the pump sounds stronger?
