Thank you for your suggestions. Yes, it is a sectional with a chaise in the configuration of this picture.

I think it needs to skooch over. My eyes wanted to push it over a bit to the right. It looks off like it is.

How much room would you suggest between the wall and the couch if you move it over?

Perhaps move it out from the wall so the arm of the sectional chaise end lines up with the end of the fireplace (as Beverly depicted in her schematic above). It looks like you'll still have ample room for walkway.

If your eye doesn't already tell you that aesthetically the sofa looks "pinched" up against the wall you might try envisioning how one might relax on it watching a long movie or program late into the night. For example, no one is comfortable with a wall so close to their periphery vision, let alone whacking their elbow on the wall, for those who have long limbs or are simply energy people who move a lot! LOL! Personally, when I recline on my sofa I often have one arm laying up over the pillows, behind my head (hopefully not TMI. lol).

Looks a bit squished and off-balance from the view in your photo. I sympathize - I live with somebody who thinks walk paths through rooms should be wide and straight enough to land a plane.

Where you have it is the only place it can be. Add a chair as suggested by BevFlaDes. You have room for it and will make the room look more balanced. Right now you have an awkward dance floor between kitchen and couch.

You just bought a sofa that's too big for your room! Dilemma # 1 on Houzz. Align the back of the sectional that is against with wall with the frame of the window left of the fireplace.
