Hi! I would reconfigure the area so the study and master bedroom are reversed....would not want to be entering the master bedroom from the laundry room!! If the master was accessed from the living room the entry could be moved further away from the wall with the fireplace. The powder room, ensuite and walk in closet would also have to be reconfigured to accommodate the change. It seems like there is plenty of room....it just needs to be used differently....like a complete reconfiguration.

Is the layout above the existing house or the plan for the remodel?

I do not have the tools to do this properly but would suggest reversing the study and the master bedroom so entry to master is from living room, flipping the walk in closet and master ensuite, relocating the powder room so that it backs up to the pantry wall (which is a good location for a powder room off the laundry room), moving the ensuite toilet to where the powder room was in the original drawing and using the extra space to increase the size of the walk in closet to accommodate built ins so in the master bedroom you really only need a king bed and side tables. The openings for the doors would have to be adjusted accordingly but there seems like there is sufficient room.

Sorry, but I see so many problems with this layout, I would put everything on hold and get a different architect to work out something better. One bathroom for 3 bedrooms isn't going to work, the Powder room into study? Tiny laundry room with 4 bedroom home?? Not going to work. Surely poor configuration of entry into master and then, what??? go through closet to get to the master bath. No this isn't going to work AT All! You enter the home and walk into the dining room?? I assume you are trying to work within some original footprint of this home? But this is not going to work. I think you are trying to do too much in this space and you actually need an addition. Is there room on the property to relocate the garages to the side with the bedrooms, and convert one of those bedrooms into a laundry room? Then expand the master suite into the space where the current garages are? Just needs a lot more work and thought.

I hope you love a deep dark tomb for a kitchen. Covered porches will reduce daylight to nearly nothing. Start OVER. Too many disconnected living spaces, too many bedrooms sharing one bath. a small bath and not a great small bath. A laundry space too small. Start over, and reduce your wish list.

A lot of bedrooms... what age are kids? I have a rambler/ main floor master with connected laundry but opposite the garage. And it has another door for others to enter to do their laundry. You will want more privacy I think as suggested above.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I've shared all of your comments with my husband. The house is currently a 4/2.5 and we are hoping to keep it that way. We are going to reach out to an architect for some more options. For those of you curious, here is the current layout. Hopefully we'll come up with a more viable layout!

OK, yes I can see what you are working with, but a good architect can rework this nicely. I would start at entry and relocate it or build out some in front for a nice entry. Then work to open space for larger walk-in closet in front bedroom accessible from inside the bedroom. Open area to incorporate kitchen,dinette and dining room to one large family gathering/kitchen space. Yes, you can do much better. I may take a crack at this over the holiday if I have time to give you a sense of how this could be so much better. Glad you asked though. Good move because you were headed for a massive headache.

If you flip the bedroom with the closet and bathroom, you can enter the bedroom from the living room or study insread. That might make more sensE. At the same time, you can maybe keep the door in the laundry room so you can enter the laundry from the master closet. A big step Saver!

Have you figured out a budget for this? How long have you lived in the house and what are your goals? Have you checked which of those walls in the middle of the house are load bearing? Are you on a slab?
