Question about Cotton Batting...

Recently I went to Joann's to stock up on batting sizes that I didn't have any left. They were out of the twin-sized 80/20 packaged batting that I normally buy. (Not sure if they have discontinued it.) So I bought a package of Pellon 100% cotton batting (twin) with needle punched stabilizing scrim. After checking online I see that this is a new Pellon item. In the years of quilting I have used the 100% cotton quite a few times in the past but I do not remember it being so linty! This thing is just shedding lint all over my quilt top. I will be so glad to finish binding it. Am I just not remembering or is this not normal? I know the last time I bought a cotton batting I spent a good deal on it at the LQS because it was a special quilt and it was wonderful to work with and not linty at all (Quilter's Dream.)
