Need help identifying this rose

I need your help identifying this rose I purchased as a body bag from Home Depot (Mea Nursery) as “Crystal Ball”. Yes, it is pink but I think it has enough unique qualities that putting a true name to it may be possible. The medium to deep pink blooms start out as globular buds and open to cupped rosettes that consistently have a button eye. The back petals reflex some while the others face forward. The blooms have a strong old rose fragrance. It has repeated quite well, especially for a new rose. The foliage is semi-glossy to glossy

and the stems are very prickly. The growth habit has been upright so far.

I called Mea and, as expected, was told that Crystal Ball was the name of the rose but know they are notorious for renaming roses. I can’t find any information on any rose called “Crystal Ball” either.

I really like this rose but would like to put a name to it so I can know what it’s potential size and growth habit are and plan where to put it in the garden.

Wow the rose is gorgeous and looks just like my Princess Ann’s. She kind of on the lilac side of pink. They grow straight up like a hybrid tea. Eventually they branch but not like a bush. The leaves have a bit of a shine to them unlike most Austins and very thorny canes. I’ll try to add some photos but they usually won’t upload.

I think its safe to assume "Crystal Ball" is a manufactured name and as such, has no meaning. As for the rose - I don't recognize it at all, sorry. Curiously, the thorn pattern is quite modern (HT-ish) but the foliage and bloom style - not so much. I wonder if its an Austin that they've rebranded?

Thanks Paul! I wonder if it could be an older Austin or Meilland rose. I was hoping when I purchased it that it was Louise Odier or other bourbon. I forgot to mention that under the “Crystal Ball” label that it said “Bourbon Rose”. It‘s growth habit is HT like so far and foliage even looks too modern.

I don’t think Home Depot has a clue but Mea Nursery is not innocent - I’m not sure how they get away with it.

Looking at Meilland’s Romantica’s, I wonder if it could be Orchid Romance? The only person I’ve seen post about this rose is Sara-Ann.

When I first looked at the photos, I thought the same thing, that it looks like a Meilland Rose.

It does resemble Orchid Romance.

I think yours looks more like orchid Romance. I thought that when they produced more of a rose than was selling. That extras went to other companies. Then renamed for sale at a lesser price.

Also the color of Princess Ann is not as dark photo.

Hi Patty, I love seeing Princess Anne! It was sent to me by mistake 2 or 3 years ago instead of Princess Alexandra of Kent. I gifted it to a friend because I did not have a place for it at the time but wish I would have just waited until I had one of the new flowerbeds built. There are some similarities and makes me wonder what the parents of Princess Anne are? I have only been able to find the lineage of older DA releases.
