It's probably in shock, 7 days in the dark and then a new environment in bright sun.
It's odd anyone would ship in July.

Soaking before planting is of no benefit and can be detrimental if done long enough - most woody plants shipped bare-rooted are not aquatic.

It was not bare root. I planted it for just 6 days, so when delivered, it was pretty much like how it currently is except that all leaves were green. I did not soak before planting. I think I dig a hole large enough. It’s in Seattle and it’s like 65F these days.

It is transplant shock. July is not the best time of year for any mail order plants and planting, regardless of where one is located or what the weather might be. The plants get stressed from the shipping.

btw, Golden or yellow Delicious is not a recommended variety for western WA/Puget Sound area. It is quite late to ripen and requires more heat than this area provides. Good for eastern WA - not good for western WA. Which is probaby why the need to mail order.....local vendors do not sell it here.

Also keep in mind apple cultivars require cross pollination - if the tree is by itself you'll need to plant a second kind known to cross with it nearby. And of course if the existing tree is likely to struggle with the local climate you'll probably have to start over with locally adapted kinds as well.
