I found a katydid a few nights ago, and looked up a sound they made. I have that cacophony each night!

They both remind me of grasshoppers.

What about about a "leaf hopper assassin bug"?

It's definitely a (true) bug nymph, but I can't tell if it's a predaceous one or not. It does have the stance of an assassin bug though!

I think it is Assassin bugs. They are good bugs but will eat everything, kinda like the praying mantis. I dont think they eat plants. Assassin bugs can bite if handled. I dont think theu are toxic are anything. I have these orange ones all over our property.

Folks on another forum are telling me it's a leaf footed bug nymph.

Eureka! I've been trying to ID this insect since I noticed it on my cantaloupe vines three days ago. Searches of online databases were negative because the photos were of the adult stage, not the nymph. I'm indebted to the OP for making this information available.

I just dusted the little buggers with DE. They don't seem to care for it at all.
