Northland Rosarium

Ok. I need the scoop. We are going to be driving through Spokane on our way home from visiting Mark’s Dad in Minnesota and I‘ve wrangled a stop out of him to see what they have.

I probably won’t have much time, when you’ve been on a long road trip and the end is in sight you just want to get HOME and he and Jada will probably be rushing me. Plus I really want to see the animals and find out if any of my plants are in jeopardy. I’m hoping everything will be okay because we did get rain while we were gone, I just don’t know if it made it through the tree canopy.

But I digress. What must I look at first? I checked on their website and a lot of their roses say sold out but can still be purchased at the nursery. Anybody know anything about that? Anyone I should try to find who would be of help?

Also, do they carry hosta? Any unique varieties? I also want to look at clematis.

I‘be purchased online from them before and am so excited to go in person. I just hope there is still something good left at this time of year!

Thanks!

Oooh I'm jealous how fun! Of all my online ordered roses the ones from Northland seemed to transplant the most readily with no shock at all.

Your post needs to reach flowersaremusic, who lives not far from Northland, shops there a lot, and personally knows the owner. Flowers is hosting her famiy now, so may not be looking at the forum's postings for a day or two. Could you send her a private message? Good luck. The Northland display gardens are beautiful, too. I can hear the groaning of your family already-ha. Diane

Oh gosh I’m jealous too !! This is one time where I’d tell the fam to suck it up for all the sacrifices you’ve made as a mother and be good sports !! Their photos on instagram are gorgeous. They always seem to have nice clematis in photos !! Good luck and report back . Maybe promise the family ice cream if they behave themselves! Lol :)

Oursteelers, how I wish I'd seen this thread sooner! I would love to have met you there! So happy you found some goodies. There are always lots more than what's posted in the online catalog. So much from the catalog is sold out this time of year, but Carol continues to get roses in all summer and so worth while to see the display gardens - though they are probably between flushes, and all the perennials, annuals, veggies and herbs, shrubs, ornamental trees, ironwork, pottery, and meet the staff. Carol is an incredibly knowledgable rosarian and one of the kindest people I know. She makes everyone feel like family. You got home with some great roses! I hope your family was able to get out and stretch their legs and the little ones could run around and expend some energy.

I'm going out there this week. Tomorrow, we're taking our family to the airport (boo hoo), then seeing the vet, so Northland has to wait until Wednesday.

Pippa, your Sydonie is so beautiful and is great confirmation to oursteelers that she made a wonderful choice.

I didn’t look at the gardens, I had already spent an hour figuring out what to get and as much as I’d like to blame it on my family, it was me too.

We were only 4-5 hours from home and I was missing the animals SO badly. Plus I wanted to see my gardens!

It was a wonderful experience and I’d love to go again, just not at the tail end of such a long road trip.

One question re color. Are both BP and Sydonie cool pinks or is one warmer? Just trying to figure out placement :)

Believe me, I know the feeling. That last leg of a trip before reaching home always seems so long. But, I'm glad you got to pick out some roses in person and skip the shipping charges.

I'm diving into deadheading big time this afternoon and am determined to get some roses in the ground. My kids pulled those little pine seedlings that I've been complaining about by the hundreds, so that looks better now.
