yeah, oddly, they seem to like me...

I have been getting along with saving seeds and cuttings...which has been fun - lots of annuals and vegetables...but I am definitely pleased to just be a bit more frivolous.

Excellent news, Camp. My own practices in gardening are now quite applied, but I read you as a "real" (all round) total gardener. Of course they like you. I'd say they'd have no taste if they didn't. Knowledge and personality: a rather attractive combination.

Not altogether sure how my latest customer is feeling though. Just come back from a garden where landscaping fabric has been liberally used (said it had to go as it was a menace) and 3 gigantic gnarly,cordylines, at radically different heights, dominated the front garden (said they had to go too).

Me too. With my newly invigorated bank balance I BOUGHT a couple of dahlias, a little veronica (nana something - a complete cutie) and a heap of 50p (around 40cents, I think) gerberas to cheer up the greenhouse.

Good for you on so many levels! Sometimes need forces us out of our comfort zone. It is funny that your online persona seems not shy at all and if you had not told us we would never have guessed. Congrats on being in the black...and back into the "green".

Ha, I do often wonder how our on-line persona might differ from RL, peren.all. For me, GW has been of huge value simply because I am verging on the anti-social and would have nobody to talk with, regarding our beloved plants and gardens. I have worn my family down so they have effectively chosen the path of least resistance and have all become plantophiles themselves, but with very different interests to mine (orchids, cactii and succulents, tropicals and medicinal herbs). But yep, plants are far easier to cope with than people.

I am doing my bulb lists (I missed out last year).

I thought your countrymen and women revered iconoclasts! I'll never forget the Olympics show you put on, gleefully thumbing the Chinese display of over-perfection. All the children and adults of every shape and size, with and without teeth. It was glorious and made me so proud to be of English descent. The self-deprecating humor and humanity! O yes, Jay - must take my camera. I replanted a 54ft border yesterday! A mad time to do it but since so many plants had been marked down to pennies, I stuffed a whole bunch of temporary bedders such as brachycombe, nemesia, pelargoniums, callibrachoa etc. to fill in between shrubs and perennials...so avoided that spotty, just planted look.. I was far more restrained with colour schemes (no reds, oranges, bright yellows or pinks - just pale yellows, white, cream, purples and flashes of lime..
