Gary mentioned that he needs some time to sort things out so I expect he will do that. Hopefully we will have fall opening and orders will start coming. If not, I too happy to wait for the rest.

DJ, agree wholeheartedly on no political and on Healthcare status. Ill smooch is Dan's Woks hosts and is darling. Fruit loop is sold by Solberg so I think we safe with full sun in our zone. Marshmallow sky does not melt for me at all, it is Orange Marmelade sport .

In the one picture, are those two "lil smooch"? One looks a bit more yellow. Just want to know because I love it.

Hallson‘s website doesnt say anything about liquidation, but they are not taking fall orders. I ended up ordering 5 hostas anyway, which is crazy because I have over a dozen displaced ones still waiting for homes.

I read somewhere on a Facebook page that Hallson's is closing and the owner's are moving to Ireland. Don't know how true that is.

Looks like you got some great selections from Naylor. I wish I had more room to order more lol.

Hmmm... I like to order in the fall. Usually do green mountain, lotg and hallson’s. It sounds like there are complications with green mountain and hallson’s, Naylor’s as well.

Any recommendations for other places? I think I ordered from one other place that was good, maybe north in the name? They were good but I can’t er who they were.

i do remember the website being a bit clunky and having to download an order form to send with a check, if that helps anyone solve the mystery

i like to buy from multiple places since that way I have more to choose from!

Popmama, yep, it split into two when arrived so planted this way. I agree it is adorable and cute. I think all Dan's hosta have this extra special wow to it. His Skywriter is getting more blue as season advances

One small nursery that has some cute stuff I got this year is Maple River Gardens and it did really well growing. Homestead perennials, did not order anything this year but bought in the past. I think Andrea is about only one who carries Frisian pride.

Love LOTG and Sebright, have ordered from Northern Grown perennials in the past and site is a bit cumbersome but great plants and Rod is very knowledgeable.

Hostas-store is my go to, variety is frequently changing and Mike sends plants right away for flat fee $6.

I had to join a facebook group to find out what's going on (thanks cyn) because I didn't know what was happening with my order. But dealing with figuring out how to get the best health care for your loved one, and then having to take care of the business suddenly on your own, ...... that's a rough situation. I hope to get my hostas whenever Gary can manage it, and I understand the delay. .....I'm glad I found some minis at a local nursery to help with my hosta cravings, lol.

oursteelers, We are losing too many of the reliable hosta sources. :-( .... But I was noticing how all the hostas I got last year in my first order from In the Country have done really well. I'd try them again even though I should quit buying new hostas. Yeah, like that will happen!

Sandy, I think Boys/Fransen were releasing series See no evil, Hear no evil etc. See no evil I got and it is sport of Funky Monkey.

Sandy, I don’t think I’m capable of stopping hosta shopping and locally it seems like we always get the same ones. Maybe 1 or 2 different varieties a year....and who can only add one or two a year!?!?

Especially if you like the giants, they need time to look their best!

Will all of these be “potted hostas?” And I did a google search for Naylor online, Naylors Hostas, Naylors Garden.......all I found was a neighborhood cooperative in DC.......lol.......what’s the link or the proper name? That's great, lindalana, that you're getting the rest of your order. Naylors does carry a good variety. .....But they've got a lot going on, and he's having trouble getting orders out. I still haven't heard anything about my order. :-(

I think Gary is facing some tough choices and Naylor is not likely to remain same but hopefully Gary would be able to streamline his business to be able to cope.

Debra , that is a good question. I am pretty sure I will be cursing myself in a month when I need to winterize all my pots.

I think I will have to play musical chairs and pot some older hosta up and keep more valuable hosta in the ground.

Otoh, some hostas are just better looking in the pot I think, specially with flowing leaves or smaller hosta. Funny bones for example had leaves that lay low, am not sure it will look good in the ground.

Gary is dealing with the same thing I am with my mom. It's brutal. I hope things will get easier for him soon.

Sandy, I suggest you contact Gary via email. It is getting hard for him to figure out who can take their orders delivered now as not everyone wants or can plant in the fall.

I've bought quite a few from Uniquely Hostas since last summer. I've been happy with the variety and plants.

Karl, I like Uniquely hostas as well. My goal for next year is to go to their open days.

Marlene has been a gem promptly responding and sending plants and they sure do have some rare ones. Now that they will acquire another collector's rare hosta garden there will be more reason to shop with them. With so many places closing it is just sad.

That said Naylors is my top choice, having your own tc lab helps tremendously. I so hope Gary will find his new normal state and I get some new goodies...

I'm not sure which one is my favorite at this point. Last summer was my first experience ordering hostas online and I didn't have a single issue. This year it's been kind of a mess.

Gary and I talked about how hard it is for caregivers of Alzheimer sufferers. I at least have my dad helping me with my mom. I don't get the feeling he has much help for either the business or respite from the care giving.
