I've heard of using ammonia as fertilizer, but not as weed killer. Please let us know how it goes. Weeding is getting to be a real chore for me too.

I recently mixed a vinegar and salt concoction that I found when googling "natural weed killer". I use it sparingly and it works on broadleaf weeds fairly effectively. As I've gotten older, I've become more tolerant of weeds (misplaced plants). I knew an elderly gardener who called hers a "naturalized" garden. I also have some weeds that grow tall and the roots are fairly weak - they can be pulled when they're waist high. Adapt and overcome!

Here's the first update on it. Most of the weeds have turned brown and wilted but some of them are partially affected. So I figured that they hadn't been sprayed completely enough so I went back and hit them again. It didn't faze the nutsedge. So we will see if this lasts long enough to warrant spending money on it. I did have to really spray them heavily and of course the crappy sprayer mechanism on the bottle is already trying to crap out and the bottle is half full. We can put man on the moon (it happened fifty years ago) but we can't design a spray bottle that works.
