The chandy is fun but a bit overpowering for your table. Try a linear one with more of a farmhouse feeling. I would sell that, along with the Lucite and French chairs and get a more substantial pair for the heads of the table. A rug 36-42" larger than your table top on all sides will do the trick. Drapes, art, perhaps a mirror over the FP to double the new light fixture if it is real fancy, or just art if you do a simple farmhouse fixture like this one.

First, thank you all so much!!! I LOVE the idea of chalk paint to lighten up the table and legs of the chairs. I DO love green but the chairs just seem outdated or maybe I am just tired of them!... perhaps I could have them recovered as they are comfortable.

Also, thank you for asking about the Chiavarri chair - NO - I do not want to keep them in the room - they're just there because I have been too lazy to bring them down to the basement!

I do have art but it doesn't compliment the room - the wall opposite the fireplace is huge - I am thinking a large piece ...

Oh, and the two console tables ... those are going to go as well ... just not the right pieces for this room...

The other rug is a circular MacKenzie childs rug - there is no green in it so it will have to go, too! lol

I think your blinds are very nice and will look great with some drapery panels. I agree that the fireplace brick is classic and should not be painted. I love the farmhouse table and chairs that Deco posted.

I might have missed it but, anywhooo that chandelier is one of my fav's but it is much too large for the ceiling height. I think because you need scale linear IS the answer to getting the presences but not the height here.

I like the idea of keeping the two end chairs but replacing the green ones, a longer table would be nice, but more than that I think the table itself doesn't flow well.

I also 2nd or 3rd that the fireplace is wonderful just as it is, at least the brick maybe you could paint the mantel?

To get a clear start I think you should sell the table and start fresh from there, you have lots of pieces to play with in the room but I think the table or at least the chairs are holding you back a bit.
