A few from Sunday and Monday

We took a few on Sunday and then left for the day so I didn't get any posted. Bob has taken the week off so we got a few more today.

This is not the type I typically post, but I think this diploid is just lovely. It is Jean Clement.

Can't Get There from Here is a good grower but not my favorite color.

Cory Tipple was nice today.

My Side of the Mountain is a tall diploid. It is a vigorous grower and increaser.

Natural Affinity is sometimes very blotchy. Today it behaved well.

Now or Never is a southern that does well here.

I think I posted Royal Extravaganza before, but the blooms were huge today.

Sonoran Desert Rose has started blooming. It blooms on the late side normally.

Strawberry Romance is another good grower.

Bob loves this color combination. Sharkey's Revenge is one of my favorites of this type.

Tom Adams is one of our favorite dark ones. It is tender here, though, and spends its winters in the greenhouse.

A few seedlings blooming today

This is a three-year-old seedling whose tag says Forestlake Laura Lee Harding X Bass Gibson. We don't see how it could be considering this color. It has some fangs about an inch long.

This is another three-year-old seedling. I was beginning to worry about it because I hadn't seen it blooming. It just started so maybe it's a late bloomer. It's Lady Stephanie Victoria Redding X Rosy Spiketail.

This one is rather interesting because of the midribs on the sepals. It's Ashwood Inferno X Horns. It's tall, vigorous, and well-budded.

This is Lady Stephanie Victoria Redding crossed with the first seedling.

This is one of seedlings Bob got by crossing Sunshine on My Shoulders with Fulva Korean. It has a killer scape.

A by product of the red and white program is some lovely whites with purple eyes. This is Phillies Starter X Empire of Dawn and Dusk.

I gasped when I saw your photo of Jean Clement. It's so gorgeous! I ordered a few daylilies from Bret last year and it was one I liked but it was too much for my budget. I think your photo is even prettier than the one on the website. It's definitely my type of daylily. You have some very impressive seedlings.

Cory Tipple is having a very good year. Some years, can be very splotchy. I like your Phillies Starter seedling. Good to know that Now or Never is northern friendly. It probably is unfair to dismiss an entire breeding program, but DeVitos in general have the reputation of being unfriendly to the North. Good to know too that Royal Extravaganza is doing well. I assume you have had over several winters.

I'm with Celeste on Jean Clement. While all your other daylilies are good looking too in their own way, Jean Clement really stood out, and it's a UF, not my favorite form. Amazing.......Maryl

It’s great to see one of Bob’s fulva creation, I like its color. I also like your purple and white seedling and your Lady Stephanie seedling. I like Now or Never, such an interesting color combo.

Wow, those are beautiful and the teeth on Lady Stephanie Victoria Redding X Rosy Spiketai has me thinking "ouch". Natural Affinity clump shot is stunning. Too bad it starts out blotchy.

Jean Clement is gorgeous! I also like Natural Affinity and Sonoran Desert Rose, Nancy. From the seedlings, I really like Stephanie Victoria Redding X Rosy Spiketail, Forestlake Laura Lee Harding XBass Gibson, and the Lady Stephanie Victoria Redding crossed with the other seedling.

Jean Clement is my favorite today. My favorite seedling is Stephanie Victoria Redding X Rosy Spiketail. The Empire of Dusk and Dawn seedling looks very good too!

Hoosier_nan You have some very impressive seedlings . Wow , You are doing some great work! Hope someday you will register some of your beauties.

Jean Clement looks to be a huge bloom . Is it ? I am amazed at the length of the stamens but I don't see a pistol . Maybe just the camera angle doesnt allow it to show . Is the pollen good? does it set seed?

Signet, Jean Clement is not that big of a flower. It was maybe 6 inches. I didn't notice that it didn't have a pistil. That's not typical though. I have put pollen on it, but just recently so I don't know if it sets seed. I'll let you know in a couple of days. This is the first year I have really done anything hybridizing diploids.
