That's wonderful! Have you found the chrysalides and seen the adults emerge? Maybe you raised them yourself?

No, these are just wild, and haven't seen any sign they were hatched here.

Mine (curassavica, tuberosa and incarnata) was all stripped also. I cut it all back on 11 July. It's finally starting to show some new leaves.

Anna, I don't know if I'm going to cut mine back or give them away and replace them with something edible. I'm a little tired of having all the blooms eaten off. I really wanted seeds, but that's not happening, and they don't really flower well, so I think I'll just let some other butterfly lover have them. The red shrimp plants are large enough to fill out that bed now, and they don't get eaten up.

Mine are getting eaten up by what , I think, are Asian Lady Beetles. Not sure if thats what they are but they mate all over the place, eat aphids and leaves :/

Does your Red Shrimp Plant ovewinter ok in your garden? I have one that Ive kept in a pot for several years but if it overwinters here, I will gladly put it in the ground!

My red shrimp plant was needing to be watered every day it didn't rain, and I didn't want to pot it up to a bigger pot, so I planted mine in the ground. I'm in Zone 8b - if it dies, it dies. I planted it in the bed that's on the south side of the house where my tropical MW grows. The MW made it last year, so I'm hoping the shrimp plant will, too!

MissSherry, they die back anyway, but to be sure they survive, just cut them back and pile about a foot of leaves over them. Mine survive every year, even during hard freezes. Leaves are magical. I pile them up over my gardens in the winter, and all the plants that die back come out in the spring. I have things live through the winter that shouldn't, like my Aloe Vera, because they are snug and warm under the leaves.
