There isn't an absolute answer, it really depends on all the other elements in the room, style of house etc.

Have you read up on matte quartz countertops and the issues some have had with them? Most materials have some possible negatives, but you want to be aware of them before you buy/install the counters.

I just installed a black matte countertop (cambria) and I used a mixed tile of marble, metal and glass - see my pics.. it's really all your taste.
