They are a large tract/production builder, so if your expectations are low, you'll be fine. :-)

I have built 2 tract homes, neither of which were Highland, but Highland builds in my neighborhood (I have a Highland next door). I believe they are fairly typical... Not the best, but not the worst.

I don't particularly care for my neighbor's home, quality-wise... They have 50% more square footage than I do, their family is smaller than mine by two thirds, and their house is one year younger (mine is 2 years old). I am glad I bought a Gehan, by comparison, even though I'm not exactly thrilled with Gehan... But it's an acceptable tract house for now.

If you can find a Highland in your area that is only 2-2.5 rooms deep, with a window in the kitchen, *and* can get a parcel/lot that ensures southern sunshine into your main living spaces, then you should be okay.

Don't be a perfectionist, and have a 3rd party inspector. Which is good advice regardless of who builds your house. :-D

Stay AWAY from a tract builder.....period!!!!!!!! You'll get RIPPED OFF!!!!

I have had 2 Huntington and Highland homes and at least here in greater Houston are they are the best! Their customer service is outstanding. They stand behind their products and have done warranty work beyond what they guarantee. If it weren’t for Hurricane Harvey we would have built again with them. We just couldn’t list our existing home. When we did list it, we were proud to note the builder because here they have a great reputation. So that is first hand experience with two homes.
