Spanish Craftsman with an Unsightly Dormer

We are in the process of buying what I would describe as a Spanish Craftsman home built in 1924. The inside has built ins, hardwood floors, lots of windows and arched doors. The one hangup I have with the home's exterior is that weird flat dormer. You can really see its structure in the second picture from Google Street View (the roof has since been upgraded). What could be done to make this architectural feature more in keeping with the period of the home? Or is it the brown color throwing me off? Because this style is so unique, especially for my area, I don't have a frame of reference. Going full on Mediterranean does not seem quite right.

This looks a lot like a Sears Alhambra kit home. An image search will show you how that dormer area originally looked. She'd look so beautiful all fixed up if funds allow. What a find! Congrats :)

Liz, thank you so much. You cracked the mystery. It is, in fact, a Sears Alhambra home. It has all the features and the exact layout and room dimensions. You have provided me with direction for fixing up this place. That dormer needs to get its curves back!

And it looks like you need to add the curve to a bottom dormer. Fun find!

Absolutely Anna! I might have to forego the kitchen renovation to bring the exterior back to its former glory. I'm so happy that it has the original stucco and NOT siding. The former owners were pretty good about preserving its character, though a few things have been changed over the years.
