Reversible holiday table runner

So, yesterday I was asked by a consignment store owner if I could make reversible quilted table runners with one holiday theme on one side and another theme on the reverse side. She said she had customers asking about this. I’m trying to get my head around this idea, as to how to quilt the two different pieces, but quilt them at the same time. Maybe do a few simple 12” blocks on one side and on the other side some simple appliquéd blocks with all-over free motion quilting done and a binding that suits both colors? Any suggestions are very appreciated.

Teresa, You could use a whole piece of fabric depicting a holiday. I did one with birthday fabric on one side.

Teresa, you could make a runner similar to this one by using a holiday motif on one side and replacing the border and accent block with a neutral theme on the other. The quilting should look good on either side because the layout would be the same.

Thank you Sharon and Lois - great ideas! I’ll probably do a runner with 8-inch to 12-inch blocks similar to the image above and maybe Maple Leaf blocks on the reverse side in fall colors.

Have you ever seen the quilts where as you piece one side, it quilts the other? I’ll have to look for instructions for you. I made one. It’s a quilt-as-you-go project. You make the blocks and then add strips between them. Easier to show than describe, unfortunately.
