Design Dilemma Appliances Kitchens

We have a gas cooktop and are replacing and reconfiguring our countertop. We had a dual lever counter to higher bar with a guard panel on the back of the cooktop.. We are making the whole thing one level, counter height. What is the necessary distance to the back of the cooktop...from where people might sit?

If you switch to induction you could use a pop up vent like the Best Cattura to block things.

You'll get added safety even if the vent isn't used.

If you're thinking about induction, really do your homework on the emf radiation.....there aren't many independent studies out there. I had my heart set on induction until I really thought about the added risk.
