Are you suggesting replacing the front door with a slider? Not a good idea. Keep the front door, but extend the porch across to the kitchen window side. Putting a slider in place of the kitchen window will depend on whether or not you're remodeling the kitchen interior and have the space to move cabinetry.

I might not clearly explaine our plan... deck will go from the old steps to the right and around the corner. Yes, we want to remove front door and the kitchen window and install a slider. I don’t think we can keep a kitchen window and have a slider because there will be no wall space left inside. In my opinion it will be to open, to much glass.

I think if we remove the existing door and replace the kitchen window with slider it will balance against the big living room window...

Why do you want to replace the front door with a slider? It will look incongruous. You can build the deck and keep the current door.

Number 3 above with French doors is what I would pick.

I agree that a larger front door is the best look but not with the grids .

Grover gave you fine options to choose from.

Here are a couple of issues to consider.

• A slider or French door do not allow you to have a secured screen door at your front entrance. If a stranger comes to your home, there is no locked barrier between you and whoever is outside your entrance.
• Sliders and French doors are more easy to break through in the event someone wants to break in or burgle your home.

I would not incur the expense of adding a slider. Stick with your current front door and simply add the deck.
