Dog Shower Tub.... Guidance Requested.

Have you created or designed a dog wash in your home? Which drain is a better design for a small dog wash station: A) Mop sink with center drain or B) a shower pan with an offset drain? I'm concerned about the potential hazard of doggy nails poking into the drainage hole. If you have a dog wash station, which drain do you prefer?

My current laundry sink is too small and deep. So, I'm thinking of replacing it with a 36 x 24 mop sink with a tiled surround. Although this is not my actual room, the set-up is quite close, but I've got an extra 20inches of counter space next to the sink & the cabinets are only above the machines, as we removed them from the counter and sink area.

Please share tips regarding your experience with such a project.

I have never designed a dog room with the intention of using the regular sink. Most times we install a stainless steel sink w/ drain at the back. A couple times it has been more like a shower pan but installed on a raised platform. Also look into schluter counter top drains as the entire counter top can be the sink and it is just angled back to a drain at the wall.

Last option only works for cleaning a small dog, as there is no walls to contain the mess.

If you are even considering an offset drain shower pan, why not use an existing bathroom shower? You can add an additional shower wand hose and have full reach from pan to people height.

This worked for me for over half a century with Collies, Bull Dogs, and the occasional mixed breed.

I have a Greyhound now and I've gotten too old - I take her to a Self Service Bath Sink at a local groomers every six months. She enjoys the bath - and the attention!

SaltiDawg. II really want a comfortable- height workspace to bathe my 28lbs. furry baby boy.. Currently, I bathe him in a shower/tub, but reaching and bending over the bathtub is painful.
