You also mentioned in the other thread that you have a ladder, maybe we can work it in on the other side of the wine cooler? or once you move the cabinet, on the other side of that ;) Try it!

I would add a crown molding to all upper cabinets...stain/poly...change out hardware to oil rubbed bronze...add black runner on floor...drop pendant lights on top of island using a black wrought iron fixture...black counter height stools added for seating

As far as the rug I would use an indoor/ outdoor runner with the water from the pool. Maybe a sea grass or jute?

Margo- i would love to change the backsplash sometime . The people who loved there before made the back splash and countertops the same. Plus its in both bathrooms ughhhh! On the other hand we were going to go like a dark cherry color but im up to do light cupboards - our walls are light as well... For now i just want the kitchen to come together it just feels akward

Well i guess jeff did say he wants to change the back splash same time we do the cupboards. I want a busier backsplash with that color incorporated in. I dont know how i feel about light cupboards lol

Don't do anything, save your money. No clutter, no knick knacks on top of cabinets.

First, I am a huge fan of subway tile. I do like what you are showing but still think it might be to busy for the granite. You will have to go get a sample and bring it home to put up against the granite. I would not pick it off a picture. Take your time with this one ;)

I agree with the lighter cabinet color - it'll help bring the counter tops and floor tiles in on the action. And, umm, yeah - that backsplash is - how shall I respectfully say - a bit much? Any thoughts on under-cabinet lighting in a warm color, or would the reflections on the lower surfaces make it worse?

Can't really embrace the mats on the floor...if the tiles were a solid pattern, then maybe...

The cabinet hardware conflicts for me, too... If you refinish the cabs (ie: paint), you could fill the holes and go without handles, or at least change to a coordinating one with the stainless steel.

PS: Margo has a great eye for all of this stuff...

hey whitney - if you do decide to bring down the backsplash, and can salvage a few good-sized pieces, maybe you could contact a local supplier to see if they could reshape them for you, buff off the edges, and then you could glue some rubber feet on the bottom and use them as trivets or hot-plates on the counter or table. As well, I put some feet on a slab 'o stone and put it in the freezer for a bit before I roll out cookie dough or pie dough.
