It's not so much dust as sun will fade fabrics. If you're concerned about the amount of dust in your home, you can invest in an air purifier which will help to cut down on the amount of dust in your home. As for direct sun, you can get window shades (blinds, curtains, etc) or window films to block the sun. I believe there are also fabric protectant sprays available to prolong the life of the fabric. Dust is part of the environment we cannot stop it we can only control it by closing windows in dry and windy days ,if there is construction near by dust will be present even more,if you live on a gravel road dust will be more present then if you lived in a paved street, changing the filter in your furnace once a month will help,vacuuming the air ducks,will help, removing carpet will help,opining the windows during a rainy day is the best way to prevent dust from coming in the house . Also getting a leather sofa would be very helpful .
