Lysimachia ciliata? and Prunella vulgais.

Thanks so much. I think you’re right about the Prunella vulgaris, but after doing some research based on your suggestion I’m pretty sure that the Lysimachia is Lysimachia vulgaris, unfortunately. Well, at least two of the plants I asked about today aren’t noxious weeds!

The flowers and leaves look a bit large for L. vulgaris. Did you consider L. punctata? See the following snip from Weakley's key to distinguish between the two. You'll need to click on the snip to enlarge it for viewing.

Thanks for the info. I took a deeper dive based on your suggestion, but it led me back to my original conclusion - that among the choices presented, it’s L. vulgaris. l wasn’t able to go back and measure flowers (or take better pics); but the 2 photos I posted clearly show the whirled 3-leaf arrangement which seems to be characteristic of L. vulgaris. L. punctata has 4 leaves. Also, based on comparing an assortment of photos of the three plants, the L. vulgaris leaves look stiffer and glossier than those of the other two. Finally, the L. v produces flowers from each leaf grouping on stems that are about the same length as the leaves. I think it’s a beautiful plant and am sad that I can’t use it in my garden, but, your response and peren.all’s have started me thinking about other Lysimachia that could serve my needs. I currently have a large stand of gooseneck loosestrife from a patch that my mom wanted cleared out of one of her beds. Its aggressiveness is an asset where I have it and it looks great.

Unless someone comes up with a better possibility, I’m going with L. vulgaris. Thanks again for everyone‘s help.
