My 2 have not bloomed this year. BOO! No nanners for me. I moved the potted one directly under the run off from the roof so I'm hoping it may flower earlier in the summer next year. We'll see!

Barb, Mine are so tall, I literally have to pull them over to harvest the fruit. You should see me hanging my fat butt on that plant to pull it down. LOL

I think I am only going to get 5 hands as well on this praying hands banana but that is five hands I don't have to buy.

Glenn, Nice video on the mulberries too. I like that your videos are not too long and just get to the point, unlike those who drone on and one about things nobody cares about before they ever get to the actual subject of the video.

Thanks DG I will be put out more with a goal of 1 how to video a week and 1 on something random. I'm hoping I can get better at the on screen thing. I'm digging out my old photo equipment from when I did photography and going to try to put it to use in this modern world.

Glenn, check with YouTube, because if your ultimate goal is to monetize the channel, I believe the videos have to be at least 10 minutes long. Not sure, though.

You have a nice voice. You could tell the history of the type of plant you are showing, care, fertilizer, pests, different methods of preserving the fruits etc. (Just thinking of ideas for making the videos longer.) .Maybe tell how tall the plant typically grows. Perhaps do follow up videos showing how to take off and pot up banana pups, how to freeze bananas and make a smoothie w them. How to dry banana chips or other fruit, any other special recipes.

I've got at least half a dozen Dwarf cavendish producing this year and my Ice Cream bananas are setting their first fruit.

Kinzyjr - That's a lot of bananas! You'll love ice cream. Orinoco (mine) is a bit like ice cream, but maybe not as creamy. The taste is very like it, though.

Yes, this is the most bananas I've ever had come off in one season. It must be the heavy rain we've been getting every day. I'm dying to try the Ice Cream when they are ripe. Waiting for the plants to mature and set fruit wasn't fun, but at least that is now in the rear view mirror.

Hi everyone!

after waiting three full years, our first banana plant is bearing fruit. Our original plant was taken down by a hurricane and it took this long for one of its pups to give us bananas. Problem is, I don’t know if I’m over anxious or if the bananas are not growing any larger or puffing up to ripen in the proper manner. I believe I discovered the flower and first round of fruit late April or early May. We’re now in August and they’ve hardly changed in size since the last row was exposed.

we did cut off the flower. I can post a pic if it would help.

I never cut my bloom. They take about 2 months after all the hands are set to mature. Be patient. They need at least an inch of water a day during this time, also.

If I get hit by this hurricane I will not get to harvest those bananas

Oh Glenn, just leave if you have to to protect your family. We will all help you rebuild your garden.

My praying hands banana are still standing. This is much to my surprise since I have lost many banana trees to storms.
