Has anyone else had a northern type Magnolia from the little girl series "Ann" rebloom in the summer. I noticed blooms about a week ago and was really surprised.

I was coming back from a client visit yesterday and passed a small magnolia with a number of deep pink blooms poking out of the foliage. I don't know if it was Ann specifically but was obviously a similar liliiflora hybrid.

MOBOT indicates Ann is likely to offer "sporadic repeat blooming" in midsummer.

Consistent summer moisture and good soil fertility facilitate re-blooming.

As this is the first spring I've had any blooms I was surprised that it's put on almost as many this summer. Must be all the extra rain.

Various different liliiflora hybrids may often flower on new growth, as well as from overwintering buds in spring. Unfortunately the summer flowers are usually underdeveloped, as can be seen in your picture.
