No sewing for me this week, but I have new carpeting in the three upstairs bedrooms and hallway. So, I have been putting everything back into my office/sewing room and trying to weed out those items that I'm not using. I have two quilts sandwiched and ready to quilt, but it hasn't happened yet. My sis and her new guy are coming to visit next Thursday, so housecleaning and gardening are the first on the agenda.

New carpet is always a treat. And deep cleaning can wait a month or more...or more.

Not much sewing going on here, although I did make a pair of very plain pillow cases from one of the fitted sheets I mentioned in an ealier post.

The children have worked out a loose schedue so that someone is here on the weekends. Today it is DS2. I had him out trimming shrubbery. And DH is doing very well, will see the surgeon on Monday so she can admire her handiwork.

I finished my sister’s birthday quilt (pictures soon!) and the Hunter Star wall hanging just needs the hand sewing. I think I can get that done tomorrow before my clarinet choir concert. Today we're off to visit the in-laws.

Next weekend we’ll be in DC to visit my sister! We haven’t seen her since New Years Day 2018.

So lovely to read happy posts for everyone, although I'm glad to share in all your news and needs. Linda, I hope your surgery is a breeze. You should see so much better afterwards. Theresa, wonderful news! I hope you are getting your second wind, too.

I hope to finish quilting the African quilt this weekend. My BIL just arrived for a few hours visit and I have a couple of dear friends in rehab I need to visit today or tomorrow. Also starting some pool therapy for the new knee this weekend - on my own, no therapist in the pool. I have hardly done anything in the garden. As much as I hate round up, I will probably use it on some bad weeds.

I actually have been sewing today. I can only sit for about 10 minutes at a time, but I have gotten some done on my Jamestown Landing quilt. For those of you that don't know, I have been having what I thought was hip pain for a couple years. After lots of physical therapy and doctor appointments my insurance finally allowed an MRI. My hamstrings are torn away from my pelvic bones on both sides. On the 27th, I will have the first of at least 2 surgeries. The right one is first. It has the most damage. I will be in a hip/leg combo brace and not able to walk for a few weeks. Then 3 months later, I will have the other one repaired. From what I understand, the surgeon will cut the hamstring the rest of the way off the bone, clean it up and then reattach. So getting some sewing done today was a big deal to me. :)

Jackie, that sounds like a long recovery. I hope it goes well for you. Sending well wishes for all the procedures/recoveries in the group with hopes that you all get to do some quilting "therapy" soon :-D

I have had a major change in my work environment. My boss just up and quit yesterday, so I will be working a ton more hours until arrangements can be made for some help, which I'm told could take several weeks. 9.5hr shifts every day are going to knock me on my butt! My house chores are really going to suffer!

Jackie, the surgery sounds like it will be a pain, but hopefully you will feel much better when you are recovered.

I finished quilting the quilt today and can return it to my friend and she will bind it. As long as I was upstairs and my cutting pad was downstairs, I just started sewing coins together for a new quilt. Very scrappy and busy, but hopefully the kids will like it.

I am glad for everyone who had a chance to sew. No sewing here - we have our granddaughter until late tomorrow night (since Wednesday) We turned our hot tub down to 95 degrees and she loves "swimming" in it! It's amazing how tired I am after watching a 2-1/2 year old 24 hours a day - too tired to even think about sewing!! It's okay (as she would say), I am enjoying every minute, even if I am tired!

Jackie, holy frijoles! You must have an incredibly high threshold for pain. My husband suffered muscles torn from the bone, and he said it was some of the worst pain ever. You've endured for quite a long time now. Praying your surgery is soon and you're on to healing quickly! PS...do ALL the therapy! It really does help.

Char, hope they find a replacement quickly, and you have time to quilt soon!

Yesterday, I stitched a baby/play quilt for an extended family member this week. DD tagged along and chose the fabric. It's loosely based on the Zoo Dweller's pattern. Just some straight lines/stitch in the ditch for this one. Not my favorite quilt ever, but the recipient liked it.

In case you run out of gift bags or wrapping paper (like I did!), here's an idea for presenting said quilt:

I wrapped in cellophane and trimmed a couple of scraps with my pinking shears to create 'ribbon.' Easy-peasy, and everyone wanted to know which 'boutique' I found the quilt. Hahaha!

Theresa, DH is doing well. He was golfing three weeks after the surgery (with his doc's approval). The sciatic pain is gone; unfortunately, he still has a 75 year old spine which has other issues too. I guess there's only one way to escape the issues of old age, and that's not a very appealing option.
