Pick the lightest color in your granite and find a subway tile in that color. It’ll brighten up your space.

They are too busy together. But you already have a backsplash - the 4" lip of granite. You shouldn't have that PLUS the tile. Either tear out the tile and paint, or tear our both (tile and lip) and install a simpler tile.

Hi, yes, agree that the tile and granite are very busy together. Also agree that to do a backsplash change, it would be wise to remove the granite backsplash piece as well.

Here are some tile ideas from Tilebar. You can order samples from them and that is the best way to do it. Order quite a few and see what you like in your space with the lighting and counters etc. It is almost impossible to pick the right colour from online pictures.

I like the idea of just painting the area above the granite as well. That said, I notice a few of you remarked that the 4 inch lip of granite should be removed before installing new tile, and I wonder about the reason for removal? Sometimes I like to have a granite lip with tile above--it is easier to clean up and oftentimes adds a finish to the counter top. Am I way out of step on this? I am thinking of installing a quartzite counter top with a lip particularly because the quartzite will fit better and be a cleaner look under the window sills over the sinks than a cut tile. And easier to clean up splashes. Any thoughts?

seems Like your on the right track with a few of your choices. Try some simple ones also that is the background color of granite. Can’t really tell until you try a few in your space. Then you will really know the direction you need to go.
