seeking help for kitchen backsplash

looking for suggestions on tile for the backsplash and the far wall (with 2 windows). I was originally going to go with a carrara white subway tile but after getting the countertops (babylon gray quartz) in I am thinking that a darker backsplash might help set off the kitchen better.

The far wall with the two windows will have a wall mounted vent hood along with the range. Planning to do that wall with tile to the ceiling and perhaps a patterned tile.

I would use the same backsplash as the countertop but only up to the Windows ...then put a stainless Steele sheet behind the stove ...less is more .!

Mark do you have a preference on shapes, material, etc? Do you want to keep it white and black or would you like color?

    Here are some ideas:

    This is Encore Arabesque:

You could do a colorful subway in a ray of different colors. What is your favorite color?

How about a marble herringbone (is your countertop granite? Marble usually will not look good with quartz.

A grey subway or a gray and white subway?

    Miromar Mosaic?

    This is it close up.

There are millions of choices. Give us an idea to narrow it down. Beth will hopefully come by, she is the queen of tile!

I am in the same position. I need to decide on backsplashes for our new house. I love that there are millions of tile to choose from. But can be overwhelming. Your color palette is so neutral that you could go so many ways. Two important questions: favorite colors and the important one: budget. It sucks to have champagne taste and a beer budget. But tile an amazing medium, even cheaper products can look amazing. The most important is your tile installer. They are artists in my book. But I have seen some great tile installed by DYI people (my husband). They have to be very intensely detail oriented and excellent at measuring and cutting. Enjoy the hunt for your backsplash. Start by eliminating what you don’t like and then there will be less to choose from

@NewEnglandgal this might be a better picture that shows the countertop color and grain. It is a quartz countertop. I am not afraid of bold colors or patterns but don't want something too trendy that will look dated in a few years. It is a large kitchen so a small mosaic might not fit too well. Overall it is in a house located in the country on an acreage. We have 3 large (12"diameterx22h") bell glass pendants that will be going over the 10ft long island. Appliances are all stainless.

Ahh ok. I think eventually we all will have things that make our kitchen look dated but I understand what you are saying, the longer it can go the better.

The good thing about backsplash is it can be changed in 5 or ten years and not as expensive as other aspects of a kitchen.

I looked at hundreds of pictures and some tile websites to get ideas.

Try Encore, Zanger and Tile Bar websites to start. You can also type in your quartz with the word kitchen into Houzz or Google and see what pictures come up.

The hexagon tile on the floor in this picture would go on the wall with the two windows where the range will go.

This would go on the wall with the sink (left side in first photo)
