I would say no skirt if you can store your stuff in nice baskets or such. Any bigger stuff maybe in the center where it won’t be visible. Pretty room.

Looks like you're storing lots of stuff in the shelves flanking the bed too. Consider how you might style them better. If you're the only one who ever sees this room, why worry? If others see it, a bit of organization and baskets would help. A tailored bed skirt that matches the floor color would be less noticeable than what you store there.

It's just me and my husband. He really doesn't care AT ALL. I like things organized so it just got me thinking. I've tried to put the storage bins in the middle and on the far side so they are not visible from the door. The floor "color" is parquet wood- don't think that'll be a good bedskirt color!

We have built ins all over, so there are a lot of family pics in here (basically none in our "public" areas, so I don't mind them in here). I need to edit them again probably... My side of the room is a little less dense than my husband's.

Buy one tomorrow. They're cheap. Simple. Nobody's ever going to see it but you. No dilemma at all.

I had a dilemma with our guest room since the bed has a metal frame. I ended up ordering a white twill tailored bed skirt that works just fine...for now. It's from Ballard Designs and they also have it in a few other colors.

I like bed skirts to keep dust from under the bed.

Certainly just my opinion, but I think it would look more finished if you added a bedskirt. It looks naked without one.

Do they really keep dust out? Or just that you can't SEE the dust bunnies?!?! For now, I just vacuum or Swiffer under the bed. Maybe I'll order a cheap (though cheap is relative) one and see how it looks. Do they work with footboards (as my bed has a short one that is covered by my duvet)?

Gcubed, they don't keep all the dust out. Yes, you can use them with a footboard. It's just a little more of an effort to get them on. It can help if you get a bedskirt with split corners. Here's one example with a footboard.

bedskirts for metal framed beds and no bedskirts for wood framed beds is the way i go.

The boxes aren't visible in the photo. Is dust a problem? If you attach little felt pads to the boxes, they are easier to slide in and out so a dust mop can be run around quickly.

The stored stuff is not visible from the angle of photo I took. If I take a few steps into the room and to the left (into my closet), I can see the storage boxes. I'd rather not buy new "pretty" boxes right now (as the current storage bins are just a year old). But maybe down the road.

It's a platform bed and 17" high with the metal railing. I'm not sure how good a bed skirt will look but may try and find one locally and see. I KNOW I will not be good at laundering it frequently though. It'll be purely for my aesthetics as no one else in my home will care!

Gcubed, our guest bed also has a 17" drop. I found 15" and 16" drops to be more common when I was looking. I got frustrated and finally tried one with 16". Turned out to be fine since it just "kisses" the floor. I'm guessing the better the quality, the more generous the drop could be. I did have to send one back that said 16". It was way too long with an actual drop of 18.5". Just wanted to tell you to try a 16" to see what you think.

Had a bed skirt one time.....not for long...had to adjust it every time I made the bed. Now I use bedspreads and with our high king sized mattress, the bed spread is about one inch from the floor.

I can honestly say I haven't had any problems with the bedskirt I bought. I remember having to adjust it a little when I put on a new mattress pad. However, making the bed is no problem.

What ever happened to bedspeads? They hid a multitude of sins...:(
