I always like long panels on a big window like yours! What about something like these damask patterned panels? You could keep them open during the day to let the light in and close them at night for privacy. They would also match nicely with your black leather couches. Good luck!

Two long panels on either side in a blue brown plaid would look good. Or a simple sheer with a upholstered cornice.

I suggest you mount drapery 8-10 inches above the top of the window and let them flank either side. This will add warmth, texture and color to your room. It will also draw your eye upward and give the appearance that the window is larger than it actually is. I hope this helps.

By the way, I just noticed that the mirror/pictures above the couch are on the small side and look awkward. You may want to consider getting new.

Any curtains you like, but hang them high and wide on the outside of the window. Also your art and mirror might work if you group and hang them lower as shown below.

Since your rug and furniture are solid, you really do need a print on the window and just think how nice that would look! I would find something with the blue and some brown in it for a cohesive look. One other small thing....and sorry, as I know you never asked, but is there a way to get at least part of the chair on the rug? It just looks so sad and lonely all by itself.

Thanks for all you guys input. I really appreciate it and taking it all into consideration. I plan to get bigger and better pictures and mirrors for the wall. I know what's currently up now looks weird. As far as getting the chair on the rug, I plan to move that chair out of the living room and replacing it with an accent chair of some sort. I have so many ideas floating through my head on how I want to do everything I'm trying to just do one thing at a time. I actually just painted the living room and kitchen. Maybe I should have took and posted a before picture to show you guys how far along we have come.

If you love those curtains, lower them. You have had them a few days now.....are you liking the look? IF not, return them. I cannot see them with the rest of the room, so cannot help with that, unless you want to show them in the room again?

I luv your room but your curtains are too short. Return them or exchange them for a longer size. Hang your ceiling rod closer to the ceiling and a little more outside the window frame as the other houzzer suggested. I love the paint color you pick. What color is it?

You should check out maria killam. Maria killam.com She is a designer and blogger. I just read her e-book today called, How to choose colors - it's all in the undertones. It very useful in determining what colors work with your fixed items in the room such the flooring, windows, counters, cabinets, etc. From what I learned from reading her book the color of your walls relate to the color in your flooring and furniture and work very well together. She teaches you to look at the tones in the color. Everything has undertones. Some work well together and some not so much. I'm not too sure if the color of your curtains relate. Do agree with other suggestion that you need a pattern. Check out her website and read her blogs.

I threw away the packaging. I'll see if Home Depot takes it back anyway. I'm actually out of town now so ill have to wait until I get back. I like the way it looks but I do wish it was longer and wider. Also, I tooled the picture at that angle because it was coming up pitch black when I stood directly in front to get a better shot of the entire living room.

The colors in the living room is smokey blue and pebble stone gray.

I'd put a "cell shade" on the window so that light can come in but people can't always see in. It also can come down from the top so that more light can come in.

You can find a shade like kdesignerinc is describing here below. Top-down/bottom-up shades are the most versatile thing around for privacy and letting in just as much light as you need.
