Lighting Design Dilemma Kitchens

Pendants or Recessed? Kitchen Island Lighting

I have a small to medium sized Kitchen with a medium sized Island. I bought 2, 10" diameter pendants which look too large for our Kitchen and also a bit industrial/commercial. I'm looking into some other Pendants, maybe 3 mini's or 2 that aren't so bowlish. But I was wondering if just recessed lighting above the island along with a nice larger semi-flush pendant where the Slider is next to the kitchen would look nice. I'll send pictures soon. I appreciate any advice!

I'm choosing cans over the island for my new kitchen...plenty large for pendants. I don't want the pendants to "cut" the space or divide it. I knew from day 1 that I didn't want anything hanging over the island.

Uttermost is left, kichler is right

It looks like these are main light sorces for you so make sure to get something that does force the light down. I wouldn't go too large here they will over whelm. with your counters I do think mercury glass could work. there are also bulbs out there that will force light down.
